Anti-foul film and vinyls for 3 brave Island guys rowing the Atlantic!

One of our first jobs to get stuck into in 2023 was applying vinyl wrap and anti-foul foil to the Mermaid Atlantic rowing boat. Having already scanned the boat with our 3D scanning technology pre Christmas, the boat was delivered to our unit for its transformation.

When we scan a deck, for example, we save on waste, time and therefore money, making our production process super efficient.

The race covers 3000 nautical miles from La Gomera to Antigua. The team will have to endure searing heat, Marlin spikes, sleep deprivation, hallucinations, hunger and all that Mother Nature can throw at them - sounds like fun eh?! The trio are taking on the mission to highlight the effects of waste, in particular plastic items, on our oceans. As we know all too well, plastic does not decompose and is a huge threat to marine life and incredibly damaging to our entire ecosystem.

Secondly, the guys aim to raise awareness of seagrass and the huge role it plays in combating the climate crisis. Seagrass helps prevent coastal erosion, and also cleans our oceans by absorbing pollutants produced by humans, and reducing bacterial pathogens.

By applying our eco-friendly anti-foul film, the guys will have no have to worry about cleaning down the boat’s hull whilst at sea, as any could just falls off of the film. This will also ensure the boat stays streamlined with no drag.
