Frequently asked questions

Got a question about our vinyl, deck or anti-slip?

How long will a boat wrap last? There are a few factors that will effect the vinyls durability, but in short, the answer is up to 7 years. The vinyl wrap will last longer depending on how the boat is stored and maintained.

Will the wrap fade? The vinyl is UV stable - much more so than marine paint.

Is a boat wrap difficult to maintain? No, it is incredibly easy to look after. Just ensure you avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaning tools (don’t scrub it!). You should hand wash it, using a sponge and gentle detergent. Ideally a pH neutral cleaner. Once cleaned, use a squeegee to remove excess water and dry with a microfibre cloth. You can purchase specialist vinyl wrap cleaner, but that isn’t essential. Avoid pressure washing your wrapped boat. We wouldn’t recommend applying any sort of wax product.

How long does a boat wrap take to apply? This depends on the size of the boat and how much of the vessel you are having covered. Typically, a hull wrap takes a third of the time it would to prep and paint the same area. There is no need for drying time.

Will removing vinyl wrap damage the boat? No, not if it is removed in the proper manner. A heat gun will be needed to soften the vinyl and then peel away the vinyl. Do not attempt to scrape the vinyl off. It is a good idea to get a professional to remove a boat wrap.

How much does it cost to wrap a boat? There are many factors to consider - boat length, width, hull type, how much of the boat you want covered…. Do you just want the hull wrapped? Do you want a single colour application or a more complex printed graphic design? A printed (with pattern / imagery / graphics on it) will be more costly than a single colour.
